Family Vision Associates, P.A., has been in business and locally owned for more than 30 years. Our optometrists and staff members will always strive to uphold our core values of honesty, integrity, respect, patience, tolerance and courtesy. These qualities and goals were instilled upon us by our founder, Dr. Norman L. Smith, O.D. who is now retired, and these values continue on with our new owner and Corpus Christi native, Dr. John P. Allen.

Our optometrists are happy to provide a variety of services to our Corpus Christi, TX patients, and we accept most forms of vision insurance.

All Inclusive Eye Care

Each eye exam includes tests for common eye diseases and visual acuity. We diagnose and test for glaucoma, using a Tonometry test. Dilating your eyes allows us to view your retina, optic nerve and the back of your eye to determine if you have diabetic eye disease or macular degeneration.

Visual acuity tests are performed using an eye chart. If problems with your vision are detected, we will correct your vision using a refractor and write a prescription for corrective lenses.

Contact Exams and Specialty Contacts

Our contact lens exams incorporate the same tests as our all-inclusive exams, but they also include a contact lens fitting exam. We can also prescribe hard-to-fit contact lenses.

Eye Diseases and Conditions

If you have an eye disease or condition, our optometrists can help you with a variety of services, including specialty corrective lenses, eye therapy and referrals to other eye care specialists.

Childhood Eye Ailments

• Amblyopia also known as lazy eye
• Conjunctivitis can refer to a viral or bacterial infection known as contagious pink eye
• Strabismus which causes cross eye or walleye

Adult Eye Ailments

• Blepharitis – Chronic eyelid inflammation
• Cataracts – Cloudiness on the cornea
• Computer Vision Syndrome – Eyestrain and blurry vision
• Dry Eye – Chronic itchy, scratchy, red eyes
